Numeracy |
A new course that you may be unfamiliar with as a parent. In laymen terms it is maths but scenario based. (similar to the 'reasoning' tests you may be familiar with from lower down school.
Most schools will enter students for this in year 10 and then focus on the Maths course in year 11. Many students will struggle with this, especially those on the grade C boundary. |
Mathematics |
Usually taken in year 11 this is the more traditional maths course. Many schools will have given students a chance to sit this in November but they will usually offer a chance to improve by trying again in the summer sessions. You may have a good grade in the bank and want to improve on it or maybe you missed out narrowly last time and you want to be sure not to make the same mistake.
